Equally space 6 pins along each of the division lines between the poles and the equator. Things to keep in mind as you stitch: *) Each round of this pattern is stitched in the same manor. *) Each round consists of 4 rows. *) It's helpful to place a pair of pins at the intersection of each division line and the equator to hold the threads in place. *) Begin stitching at the pins closest to the equator and work toward the poles. *) Begin stitching each round on the same division line. |
|
Round 1 – stitch 2 rows with 741. Stitch one row from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere crossing the equator at the adjacent division line. Then stitch a second row beginning on the same division line on the opposite side of the equator. Stitch from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere crossing the equator at the adjacent division line. Remove the pins as you stitch. |
Complete round 1 – stitch 2 rows on the vacant division lines
with 701. Stitch row 3 from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere crossing the equator at the adjacent division line. Then stitch row 4 beginning on the same division line on the opposite side of the equator. Stitch from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere crossing the equator at the adjacent division line. |
|
Round 2 – Move one row of pins closer
to the pole. Remember to begin stitching on the same
division line where you began round 1. Stitch rows 1 &
2 with 741, then stitch rows 3 & 4 with 701 following the
same pattern for stitching that was used to stitch round 1. Round 3 – Stitch 2 rows with 899, then stitch 2 rows with 701. Round 4 – Stitch 2 rows with 666, then stitch 2 rows with 704. Round 5 – Stitch 2 rows with 666, then stitch 2 rows with 704. Round 6 – This should be the row of pins closest to the pole. Stitch 2 rows with 310, then stitch 2 rows with gold. Finish the Temari by stitching a row of gold thread on each side of the equator. Take a stitch under a group of threads, loop the gold thread over the group, take a second stitch under the group then move to the next group of threads. Stitch around the Temari on one side of the equator wrapping each group of threads as you go then stitch around the Temari on the opposite side of the equator wrapping each group a second time. |
