Materials: 24 cm circum mari, wrapped in black Pearl Cotton #5 in dk green, gold, orange, white Marking thread in black Prepare an 8-Combination Division with invisible thread |
Locate the eight large triangles of the C8. Starting halfway
between the center of the triangle (six center pole) with dark
green, stitch points A, B, C back to A and work almost out
to the marking lines. Repeat this in each of the 6-pt
center triangles on the ball. To work the centers of the
hexagons, begin at the center point (the 6pt intersection) and stitch a hexagon,
starting as close to the center as you can. Be sure to keep even
tension and not pull the stitches too tight so that the marking
lines are not skewed. Example shows 6 rounds of dark orange. As
you continue to work the hexagon you will approach the threads
of the large triangles you stitched. When you reach them, begin
stitching in between them, as shown in the diagram (note the dot
and dash orange lines being placed between the dotted green
lines). Changing colors as you wish, work the hexagon out to
within two rows of the solid triangles. Repeat the hexagons on
each of the eight triangles. |
To add the solid accent lines, enter your contrast thread at point A in the photo above - at the midpoint of the hexagon side. Bring it to the right and take it down at the corner of the hexagon, in between the color change rows at Point B. Repeat around on all sides of each hexagon in each triangle. |
