Materials: 23 cm circum mari, wrapped in black Pearl Cotton #5 in black and white Marking thread in silver metallic Prepare an 8-Combination Division with black thread |
Identify all 8-line intersections with one color of
pins. Identify all 2-line intersections with a different
color of pins. Stitch 1 black wrap beside of the
black mark lines at all 8-line intersections. Repeat with
the black mark lines at all “+” intersections. If you have
number pins, use them. Stitch 2 white wraps on either side of
the black lines (1 wrap/1 mark line) worked in #3, following the
same directions and sequence. Continue stitching 2 wraps on either side until each band is (2 W, 2 B, 2 W, 2 B, 2 W, 2 B, 2 W) complete. Finish each color on all bands before moving on to the next. When wraps are complete, there should be striped bands intersecting to form squares at all “+” intersections and to form 6 point stars at all 8-point intersections. Silver 6-line intersections should show in the spaces. Groom the threads using the eye end of you needle to push them close together. When you get a section aligned, place a pin at the intersection or beside the band to keep it in place. At the square intersections, stitch a single black thread over each band. Be sure that your stitch goes across the threads, not in line with them. Be sure that you catch the wrapping threads in each stitch. At the Star intersections come up beside the band at a “V”. Stitch over the band and down into the “V” on the other side. Stitch under the band and up at the “V” and repeat a parallel stitch going back in the direction you started from. You have now secured one band of that intersection. Secure the remaining bands. The black outline threads not only secure the intersections, they define the shapes formed at each intersection. |
