Materials: 26cm wrapped in dark brown thread. Pearl cotton #5 in green, dark orange and orange. Marking thread: medium weight metallic gold Prepare a 10-Combination Division |
All stitching is done with double thread. Pentagons: Locate one of the 12 pentagons. Per diagram to the left, with green thread, stitch a pentagon inside each pentagon, stitching as close to the marking lines as possible. Repeat on the remaining 11 pentagons. |

Stars: Round 1: Number each
pentagon in order to maintain kousa syle. In
pentagon 1, place pins at points 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10, halfway
between x and a in diagram 1. Using dark orange, stitch
around the pentagon using Chidori
Kagari. Starting at 1, just inside a neighboring pentagon,
stitch to the pin at 2, and back across the green to the next
pentagon at 3. Continue around pentagon 1. Repeat on
pentagons 2-12. Round 2: Start again with pentagon 1. Using orange, stitch around each pentagon using Chidori Kagari. Referring to diagram 1, start at A, just below the original starting point and stitch to a point 2/3 of the distance from a - 2. Continue around pentagon 1 and repeat on pentagons 2-12. |
Diamonds: Final round: Locate an orange diamond.
Referring to diagram 2, use green to stitch from 1-2-3-4-1,
weaving under the dark orange threads and over the orange
threads. Repeat on all orange diamonds. Embellishments: With metallic gold thread, stitch matsuba kagarai at each pentagon center. |
