Locate the triangles formed around each pole where three
pentagons overlap. There will five triangles around each pole
pointing to the center of each triangle. The motifs are stitched in layers. Locate points ABC, and stitch solid triangles with the darkest shade of blue.Work to within about 0.5cm of the border marking lines. For the second layer, use the lightest shade of blue and work a triangle on the remaining three lines. Begin the first stitching row not on the outside of the solid triangle, but one row in. Then, work from the outside on outward, so the new triangle overlaps the first one by one row. Change out the shading of the blues every few rows. Repeat this pattern process in each triangle around the ball. Using the metallic that you used to mark the ball, outline the triangles, and work matsuba kagari straight stitches around each pole. |
