Mark half way point on lines going to the corners of the pentagon. Mark center of each side line of pentagon just to the outside of the line. Stitch a kiku motif using uwagake chidori kagari using these pins, 3 rows of each shade, light to dark. |
|
Stitch around center point of pentagon using all ten lines, light to dark yellow. Four rows of each of the first three shades should reach the upper points of the kiku. Stitch 3 rows each of the last two shades. The “ruffle” is achieved by stitching on top of the uwagake chidori stitching. The last row of the darkest shade should meet the first row of the lightest shade on the low points of the kiku so that none of the mari wrap is showing. Add or subtract rows as needed. |
Repeat the polar motif on the opposite end. Work tsumu kagari spindles “leaves”, 2 rows of each shade of green, darkest to lightest |
