Materials: 25 cm circum mari, wrapped in purple Pearl Cotton #5 in white, pale purple, light purple, medium purple, and dark purple Marking thread in fine metallic silver Prepare a 10-Combination Division |
Locate the points half-way into the adjacent pentagon around
each 10-pt center. With royal purple, stitch 1 round of pentagon
around first 10 pt center. Design is nejiri
style so be sure to follow interwoven sequence as you move
around the mari. Notice the under-over pattern around the 6pt
centers where the pentagon motifs overlap with each other. At
each center, be sure the ‘uphill’ path is on top and the
‘downhill’ path passes under any other rows (see diagram).
Following the interlocking pattern, stitch 1 round on each
pentagon using white, 1 round with pale purple, 1 round with light purple, and 1 round with medium purple. |
