Using the North and South poles as orientation points, use the
triangles drawn in the diagram to locate these shapes on the
ball. There will be five triangles radiating out from the north
pole and five from the south, off set from each other as shown
in the diagram. Starting at the north pole, stitch two rows of red around each triangle. Turn the ball over and stitch two rows of red around each triangle from the south pole. Turn back to the north pole and stitch 2 rows of white on each triangle; flip over and do 2 rows of white on each south pole triangle. Return to the north pole and work 2 rows of red, then 2 rows of red on the south pole triangles; repeat this alternating sequence until you have developed the pattern as desired. Work a finish round of one row of dark thread, or metallic, and then a last round of white. The total number of rows will depend on the size of the mari. |
